Cómo repartir tus ahorros según tu tramo

How to allocate your savings by bracket

The series' central guide: a reasonable starting point for every savings level

This guide assumes you've already read Guide 00: here we talk about money you no longer need as an emergency cushion, but can afford to invest with a horizon of several years. The percentages that follow are general starting points, not personalized recommendations: they don't know your age, your real risk tolerance, your obligations, or your goals. They exist so you don't start from zero and so you can spot when an allocation you're offered (or come up with) strays far from what's reasonable.

Before any number: diversification matters more than picking the "perfect product". Spreading across several asset types reduces the impact of any one of them doing badly. Putting it all into one single thing — even the one that's risen the most lately — is the most common way to lose money without noticing.

Reparto orientativo por tramo

Suggested allocation by bracket

Percentages apply to the money available to invest at that bracket (not to your total savings if part of it is your emergency fund). "Liquidity" includes interest-bearing accounts and very short-term Treasury bills; "fixed income" means bonds, longer-term bills or fixed-income funds; "equities" means stocks or, more sensibly for beginners, diversified index funds/ETFs.

* In Bracket 2, the equity percentage only applies to the surplus once the Guide 00 cushion is complete for your situation; if it isn't, it remains 100% liquidity. ** "Real estate" in Brackets 4 and 5 mainly refers to listed vehicles (SOCIMIs/REITs) or real-estate crowdfunding stakes — not buying a whole property, which usually requires wealth and leverage covered separately (Guide 06).

Why the crypto cap is so low across every bracket

It's not an oversight: it's deliberate. 5% is, for almost any wealth level in this series, the amount you can afford to lose entirely without your financial situation changing. That's the right logic for such a volatile, speculative asset — not "how much I think it'll go up". Guide 07 covers this in more detail.

A classic reference to fine-tune equities: the age rule

A widely used heuristic (not a law of physics) is subtracting your age from 110: the result is a reasonable starting point for equity exposure, shifting the rest toward fixed income and liquidity as the moment you'll need the money approaches. Someone aged 30 in Bracket 4 might lean toward the high end of the table's equity range; someone aged 60 in that same bracket, toward the low end. The table above gives the range; your age and horizon decide where you fall within it.

Check the product's fees (Guide 10) — they can eat several points of annual return without it being obvious at first glance. Be clear on your horizon: money you'll need in under 3 years shouldn't be in equities or crypto, whatever the bracket. Diversify within each category: a single global index fund spreads across thousands of companies on paper, which is still much better than a single stock — but also check how much weight its top 10 holdings carry, because in 2026 it can be more than you'd expect (see Guide 05).

The more you've saved, the more it's spread across categories and the less liquidity matters — but in no bracket of this series does it make sense to exceed 5% in cryptocurrencies or skip diversification within equities.

This table is a general starting point, not personalized investment advice: it doesn't replace the judgment of an advisor who knows your full situation.
